Learning to persist and persevere

The definition of a mentor is an experienced and trusted adviser. Keeping that in mind, here are a few questions for you…

Who are the mentors in your life? What seasons and areas of your life have they guided you through?  What have they said and/or done for you that positively influenced your life?

In this year’s first blog , I told you about one of my mentors – Barb – who was my Avon team leader whose contributions turned out to be invaluable. Here’s why.

You may recall back in February how Barb challenged me to work in a way that would multiply my sales. Reflecting back, I truly believe I would not be in the position I’m in today without her guidance.

Sadly in 2011, her health failed and she passed away. It was hard with my friend and mentor not there to pick up the phone when I called, or to see her name on the caller ID when she called me.  It brought up questions that I had not thought about before.

”What will happen to her team? Who will be my mentor now?

Before I could answer those questions, I was blessed to speak at her Celebration of Life service.  While there, I asked her husband, Ron, if we could have a chat in a few days about her business.

When we met, I explained his options. One was that he, his daughter, and granddaughter could run the business and I would teach them everything she taught me. Two, the business could roll up to Avon. Three, he could sell it and if he chose that path, I would like to be considered.

A few days later I received a call from Ron and he said they decided to sell it – but only to me!!  You may be thinking this was an easy transition.

Not even close!!
In fact, over the next 12 months, my life would start on a roller coaster ride that I couldn’t have possibly prepared for.  As you’ll see in the next blog – the future would become a time in my life where I was really tested to persist and persevere.
Earlier I asked if you had mentors in your life. If you are looking for a mentor, or know someone who is, I am a Certified Master-Mindset coach. I am always HERE to help if you need someone to talk to.
